Oregon Trail Regional 2023

The Oregon Trail Regional was contested February 20-26, 2023 in Vancouver, Washington, with over 400 players traveling from around the country to attend.

All results and the Tournament Bulletins are available on ACBL Live. There’s also a list of everyone who won masterpoints in rank order. Congratulations to Mark Lair and Farid Assemi who each won over 145 points, tying for most collected at the Tournament.

Many noteworthy accomplishments were achieved during the week. New Life Masters were minted, new players won their first ever gold points, and others attended their very first Regional. Each day’s bulletins told these tales, often with photos. And this collage of smiling faces shows a good time was had by all!

Below is the lovely note written by Amy Casanova, outgoing Tournament Chairperson, for the last day bulletin.

Thank you, thank you, to all the players, volunteers and staff that made the Oregon Trail Regional a fun tournament. This is my last year as the tournament manager, but Veronica Reeves will do a great job in the future. I’ll probably be around if anyone needs anything.

Cheryl Haines, my right-hand woman, was her usual dynamic self, handling all things I/N, sending me photos of happy winners and coordinating events and lessons for beginners. Thank you!

Barbie Pyles, Cynthia Brogan, Mike Eyer and Polly Bullert welcomed players with smiles and wristbands and candy. Thank you!

Hal Montgomery affably accepted the partnership chair without really being asked and did a great job matching up players. Thank you!

Mckenzie Myers, Jeff Jacob, Mike Weber and Arleen Harvey were your directors, always calm under pressure, friendly and helpful. Thank you!

Safe travels home and see you next year!
