Susie Leo and Betsy Ovitt take over I/N Job

Eugene-area player Susie Leo is the new I/N Coordinator for D20. She will be assisted by Betsy Ovitt, also of Eugene.

Hi, all your Intermediate and Novice players who have between 0-499 masterpoints. (From now on you will be known as I/N players so we don’t have to write out those long words.)

Some say life is short, so we must try new things. Have you ever wanted to have a new adventure playing bridge? You might ask, “Why? What’s in it for me?” Well, would you like to:

~Play in a tournament only with people in your general point range so you don’t have to compete with the Big Kids?

~Attend classes where you will learn amazing skills to improve your game? Did we mention that those classes are FREE? They are!

~Find new JOY in playing bridge in a friendly new environment?

~Don’t have a partner? There is a Partnership Desk that will help find one for you.

If you said YES to any of these questions, it sounds like you are ready to explore playing bridge at a regional tournament!

Huh? What’s a regional tournament you ask?

~The ACBL is divided into areas called districts. We are in District 20/Region 12. That includes Oregon, Washington, Northern California, parts of Idaho and Hawaii.

~Each district can host regional tournaments that award gold and red points; we gather together to play bridge, meet new people, laugh, eat good food, explore new places and generally have a blast.

~That and MORE happens at a regional tournament!

For now, please talk to your buddies at your bridge club and ask them more about what it is like to attend a regional tournament. The three locations for regionals in 2024 are Vancouver, Redmond and Seaside.

Stay tuned! I will continue to nag you again … I mean share more information with you as we get closer to the next event called Oregon Trail Regional in Vancouver WA, February 19-25, 2024.
