Having recently achieved another milestone I have been thinking of the friends and partners who have been instrumental in my development as a bridge player. When I first moved to Hawaii in 2019, I met my dear friend Jayne Henley-Davis. Jayne was a mentor and partner. She took me to duplicate games on Kailua, encouraged me to join ACBL, and talked me into bridge lessons. I really need to thank Jayne for setting me on the path to duplicate bridge which has been a challenging pastime and a way to make friends.
It is not easy to get glitter points when you live on an island as you can’t drive to out of state regional tournaments. To reach advanced NABC master, I travelled to the large regional in Gatlinburg and played in knockout games with my good friends and partners. We won one and came second in another. It seemed we made fewer mistakes than our opponents. It was a lot of fun and a great experience.
