Mary Perkins – Life Master

Mary, Perkins, Life Master

Mary Perkins reached the coveted rank of Life Master in late 2023.  She wishes to thank all the players in the Seaside / Astoria area for their role in her achievement, as she earned nearly all of her points playing in games in her home area.

Here is Mary’s story in her own words:

“I earned nearly all of my points in SEASIDE / ASTORIA area.  All except 1/3 of my Gold/Red points were won at the SEASIDE REGIONAL – and the 1/3 point I earned in a special club game in Astoria.  I only went to 3 other tournaments.

Sue Kroning taught me how to play Duplicate Bridge at a morning Seaside game. This was after I showed up at a Country Club game to play bridge (after all, I had played bridge with my brother two times, so I could play bridge!) They asked me if I had a partner. I did not because the person I talked to in the Club office assured me I did not need one. She was not a bridge player. The person running the game took charge and called someone who lived close by come and be my partner. During the game I was encouraged by many to go to Sue’s game in Seaside. (Wonder why  ? ) This turned out to be a great suggestion.”
