The Longest Day 2025

Clubs all over ACBL-Land will observe The Longest Day (TLD) during the week of June 15-22, 2025. TLD honors caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s Disease because of their dedication and exhausting work that often requiring 24/7 attention.

The summer solstice (the longest day of the year) occurs on Friday, June 20, but ACBL allows clubs to run benefit games on one day of that week. Funds raised through card fees and donations go to the Alzheimer’s Association for research funding and
care of those with dementia.

For more information on the event, visit the ACBL website.

Jamie Newman reports that Unit 461 is holding only one Longest Day game, and as is typical of their unit, the Lake Wildwood Club DBC is the most supportive. Jamie has chaired or co-chaired our ALZ games since 2013, and while there isn’t a chair this year, they have the enthusiasm of the Lake Wildwood Club led by Jeff Heyser with superb support from his board (Terri Nordby, Bev Britton, Jim Britton, Jim Hook, Jeff Morrison & Deanna Heyser).

The Vancouver WA club is having two sessions of bridge, adding an afternoon session to the usual morning game, with a potluck in between on Wednesday, June 18. Joy Fletcher and Beverly Walker are organizing the potluck party.

Deborah Ayers says her Unit will be requesting donations for Alzheimer’s Research at their F2F Pizza Party (free pizza) game on Sunday, June 22nd.
