President’s Corner

March 2024

Congratulations to the Oregon Trail Regional team for putting on a truly wonderful tournament. The recently completed OTR was a huge success and we made it through without a snowstorm this year. Accolades also go out to Jeff Jacob, the Director-in-Charge, and his entire team. Jeff permitted me to “shadow” the directors at the table for a session and I was impressed with how hard they work and the effort they make to ensure their rulings are accurate and appropriate.

Congratulations to McKenzie Myers who became a Diamond Life Master at the tournament. I happened to be kibitzing at the table when McKenzie and his partner, David Brower, bid their way to 7NT on the last board of the session which was exactly what needed to happen for the boys to win the event. Well bid and played.

It was interesting reading all the comments from the folks who took the time to fill out the survey regarding their experience at OTR. Thanks to all those who did. It’s great to hear everyone’s feedback. It’s clear we cannot please 100% of the people 100% of the time but, based on my reading of the feedback, we did a decent job. Of course, it is always important to look at how we can do things better.

The Grand National Team event is coming up soon. https://acbld20.org/gnt Get a team together and join the fun. Tons and tons of those coveted red and gold points are available.

The district continues to look for folks who might be interested in helping. We have lots of great opportunities for you.

Thanks for reading. As always, I look forward to hearing from you.

Ciao
